1. About this policy

This policy explains how Nepali Driving School (“we”, “us”, “our”) handles personal information when you use our website, book driving lessons or test packages, hire a vehicle for your driving test, or otherwise deal with us.

We are bound by the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs). By using our website or services you acknowledge that your information will be handled as described here.

2. Information we collect

We only collect information that we need to deliver our services. This may include:

• Identity and contact details — your name, email address, phone number and, where relevant, date of birth.
• Lesson and pick-up details — pick-up and drop-off addresses, preferred locations, lesson times, and your chosen instructor.
• Licence information — learner or provisional licence details and driving test bookings, where you give them to us so we can prepare you for a test or provide a test vehicle.
• Booking and payment records — orders, packages, bookings, cancellations, refunds and invoices. Card payments are processed by our payment provider; we never see or store your full card number.
• Lesson progress — notes your instructor records about your driving so we can tailor future lessons.
• Communications — messages you send through our contact form, email, phone or social media, and any reviews you leave.
• Technical information — IP address, browser type, device information and pages visited, collected automatically when you use the website.

You can browse our website without giving us personal information. If you choose not to provide information we ask for, we may not be able to take your booking.

3. How we collect it

We collect most information directly from you — when you create an account, make a booking, fill in a form or talk to us. We may also receive information from a parent or guardian who books on your behalf, from our payment provider (for example, confirmation that a payment succeeded), and from your instructor during lessons.

4. How we use your information

We use your personal information to:

• create and manage your account;
• schedule lessons, test packages and vehicle hire, and match you with an instructor;
• take payments, issue receipts and process refunds;
• send booking confirmations, reminders and changes by email or SMS;
• respond to your enquiries and resolve complaints;
• keep our services safe, prevent fraud and meet our legal obligations;
• improve our website, lessons and customer experience.

We only send marketing messages if you have agreed to receive them, and every marketing message includes a way to unsubscribe.

5. Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only where necessary with:

• your assigned instructor, so they can pick you up and run your lesson;
• our payment processor, to take and refund payments securely;
• technology providers that host our website, send our emails and SMS, and store our data on our behalf;
• our professional advisers, such as accountants, lawyers and insurers;
• government agencies or authorities where required or authorised by law, or where needed to prevent a serious threat to someone’s safety.

6. Overseas disclosure

Some of our technology and payment providers may store or process data outside Australia, including in the United States and other countries where they operate data centres. Where this happens, we take reasonable steps to ensure those providers handle your information consistently with the APPs.

7. Cookies and analytics

Our website uses cookies that are essential to keep you signed in and to remember your booking progress. We may also use analytics cookies to understand how the site is used. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, but parts of the site — including signing in and booking — may not work without them.

8. Storage and security

We store personal information electronically with reputable hosting providers and protect it with encryption in transit, access controls and password hashing. Only staff and instructors who need your information to do their job can access it.

We keep information for as long as we need it to provide our services and to meet tax, accounting and legal record-keeping requirements. When it is no longer needed, we securely delete or de-identify it.

If a data breach is likely to cause you serious harm, we will notify you and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) as required by the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme.

9. Learners under 18

Many of our learners are under 18. If you are under 18, please make sure a parent or guardian is aware of your booking. A parent or guardian may book and pay on your behalf, in which case we will collect their contact details as well as yours.

10. Accessing and correcting your information

You can view and update most of your details from your account at any time. You may also ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct or delete it, by contacting us using the details below. We will respond within 30 days. We may need to verify your identity first, and in limited cases the law allows or requires us to refuse — if so, we will tell you why.

11. Complaints

If you think we have mishandled your personal information, please contact us first at info@nepalidrivingschool.com. We will investigate and respond within 30 days.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.

We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be on this page with its “last updated” date. Please also read our Terms of Service.
